Ohio State’s depth at wide receiver took a hit after Saturday’s loss to Purdue, as Austin Mack could miss significant time due to an injury, according to a report.
Austin Ward of Letterman Row reported on Tuesday that Mack underwent surgery after suffering a foot injury early in the second half of Saturday’s game against the Boilermakers. The receiver is expected to be sidelined for six to eight weeks.
An Ohio State spokesperson confirmed the report to 247Sports.

The six-to-eight week period would rule Mack out for the remainder of Ohio State’s regular season and likely B1G Championship Game. He could potentially return for the Buckeyes’ bowl game.
Mack has been a great target for Dwayne Haskins this season. The junior has caught 26 passes for 331 yards and a touchdown in eight games. Last year, he had 24 receptions for 343 yards and two scores.
Mack caught one pass for 24 yards against Purdue.
Ohio State will have an opportunity to prepare without Mack in the lineup before their next game. The Buckeyes are on a bye this week before hosting Nebraska on Nov. 3.
In three seasons with Ohio State, Mack has 52 catches for 689 yards and three touchdowns.
