Ohio State star wide receiver Garrett Wilson has played his last game with the Buckeyes.

Monday, Wilson announced on Twitter that he will turn his attention on the 2022 NFL Draft. His decision comes just a few days before Ohio State is scheduled to play Utah in the Rose Bowl Game on New Year’s Day. The Buckeyes ended the season with a 10-2 record.

“I want to start this off by thanking you all from the bottom of my heart. These last three years have been unforgettable and becoming a Buckeye has been the single greatest decision of my life,” Wilson wrote. “I would like to thank my teammates, trainers and our entire coaching staff — Coach Hartline, Coach Day, Coach Mick and Coach Nico. I wouldn’t be in this situation without each and every one of you.

“To my family, thank you for your unconditional love, guidance and support. This journey has been a lifetime in the making and after careful consideration, today, I am excited to start the next chapter by declaring for the NFL Draft.”

Wilson closes out an outstanding career in Columbus with 1,058 yards and 12 touchdowns during the 2021 season. He totaled 5 games of 100 receiving yards, hitting the mark in each of the final 3 games of the regular season.

In Ohio State’s final 3 contests against Purdue, Michigan State and Michigan, Wilson was responsible for 27 receptions for 371 yards and 6 touchdowns.

For his career with the Buckeyes, Wilson totaled 2,213 yards and 23 touchdowns on 143 catches. He formed a devastating trio at the position with running mates Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Chris Olave.
