It’s not just about catching passes at Ohio State. If you want to be a Buckeyes receiver, you have to be able to bring something else to the table.
You better be able to block in Columbus.
Thursday, interim wide receivers coach Brian Hartline spoke on Urban Meyer’s weekly radio show to talk about the position group. The interim coach had plenty of interesting things to say, one of the most intriguing was talking about blocking and unselfishness.
“If you can’t block, you can’t play here,” Hartline said. “That’s what Coach Meyer expects. That’s what I expect.”
Hartline: "If you can't block, you can't play here. That's what coach Meyer expects. That's what I expect." Said it helps that WRs are often blocking for each other.

Earlier this year, Meyer praised the wide receiver group for blocking at an “elite” level.
Hartline also talked about the unselfishness among the position group and how well they’ve worked through some of the frustrations throughout the season.
“You’re allowed to get frustrated,” Hartline said, when asked about players having issues with not getting enough looks. “What you can’t do is let it affect the team or affect the receivers as a whole.
“They’re a great group of young men. I’m just so blessed to have such a great group of young men. Every day I come in very excited to talk and work with them.”
Ohio State’s receivers have been excellent this season and quarterback Dwayne Haskins has distributed the football nicely.
The Buckeyes are back in action Saturday night against Purdue.
