Punters never get enough credit in football. But this week, Ohio State’s Drue Chrisman got the recognition he deserves.
On Wednesday, Chrisman was named the Ray Guy Award Player of the Week for his performance against Penn State on Saturday. He had nine punts for 431 yards in the contest.
He was not named B1G Special Teams Player of the Week, as that honor was awarded to Purdue punter Joe Schopper.

Chrisman’s gross average was 47.89 yards per punt against the Nittany Lions with no touchbacks. That average was a career best for the Buckeyes punter. His net average was 47.11.
Three of Chrisman’s punts were downed inside the 20 yard line and his longest was marked at 58 yards.
Chrisman is also on the Ray Guy Award watch list this season.
