EJ Liddell has made a strong case to be considered for the B1G Player of the Year with his play on the hardwood this season. Then, Big Ten Network gave him the chance to do it with his words.

The Ohio State star joined BTN’s Mike Hall on the On the Bench podcast. During the interview, Liddell explained why he believes he’s a strong candidate to take home the top honor in the B1G this season.

“I just don’t think people affect the game as well as I do,” Liddell said. “I’m a team player. I don’t shoot as many shots as a lot of other guys but I’m efficient when it comes to it. Just affecting the game in different ways. I don’t see anyone doing it like me.”

Liddell has been a do-it-all forward for the Buckeyes this season. He leads Ohio State in scoring (20.1), rebounds (7.5), blocks (2.5) and is second in assists (2.9). He’s shooting better than 51% from the floor, 39% from 3-point range and nearly 75% from the free throw line.

Not many players in the B1G have that same skillset to utilize on both ends of the floor.

Liddell is in strong competition with players like Purdue’s Jaden Ivey, Wisconsin’s Johnny Davis and Illinois’ Kofi Cockburn for B1G Player of the Year honors. If the Buckeyes continue to play well, he’ll be in the running until the finish.
