Ohio State defensive lineman Haskell Garrett is off to a strong start to 202o.

The senior opened the season with two tackles and a sack in Saturday’s big win for the Buckeyes. He recorded the first Ohio State sack of the season and was named the Defensive Player of the Game for the Buckeyes.

Garrett is looking to have a strong season in Columbus, but the fact that he is even on the football field at all is a remarkable feat. Just two months ago, Garrett was shot in the face while trying to break up an argument. Thankfully, he was able to make a quick recovery.

Now, Garrett is looking to make the most of the season while terrorizing opposing quarterbacks. He is not trying to take the moment for granted, and he tweeted out his thanks to Buckeye Nation Sunday evening:

Best of luck to Garrett as he continues what has been a remarkable journey to this point.
