Four games into his college football career, Jack Sawyer has collected his first sack.

Late in Saturday night’s game against Akron, the Ohio State 5-star freshman was able to track down Zips quarterback DJ Irons and bring him to the turf for a loss of 3 yards. That stop kept Akron from scoring on that possession, missing a field goal later on the drive.

Ohio State defeated Akron 59-7 to improve to 3-1 on the season. Sawyer was credited with 3 tackles in the game to go along with the sack.

Sawyer was a highly-regarded prospect out of high school. Because of his talent and athleticism, the defensive end has been expected to make contributions early in his career.

Even though it was a blowout, Sawyer flashed some of his potential on Saturday night.

Ohio State has now concluded its nonconference slate and will jump back into B1G play next week. The Buckeyes will travel to Piscataway to play Rutgers.
