The Broyles Award is given to the nation’s top assistant each season. This year, the award went to LSU’s passing game coordinator Joe Brady.
One of the finalists up for the award was Ohio State co-defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley. Hafley may not have won the award, but during his time of talking at the ceremony, he brought up numerous names he wanted to thank and give credit to:
Ohio State's Jeff Hafley at the Broyles Award ceremony: "Greg Mattison should be next to me here, we do this together. Al Washington, Larry Johnson, Matt Barnes, we got a really good staff and we have really good players, and players really, honestly, they make us pretty good." https://t.co/KPIVGXl6ZU

Ohio State is always great. And, Hafley was up for the award this year. But, what’s new? Well, Greg Mattison has certainly helped — after coming over from Michigan this past offseason — and Hafley wanted to let it be known that Mattison should be right there by his side.
That’s awesome.
And, of course, the players in scarlet and gray help a bit, too.
