Ohio State center Luke Wypler has been selected as a midseason addition on the Rimington Trophy Watch List. The Rimington Trophy is an honor given annually to college football’s top center.

Just 10 days before the season opener against Minnesota, Ohio State made the call to go with Harry Miller at center. But Miller took a leave absence due to an unspecified health issue. Redshirt freshman Luke Wypler stepped in and started each of the first 6 games, and his work has now been recognized.

Miller was on the unavailable report for the season’s first few weeks. While he recovered, Wypler has been playing well and has solidified himself as the center. While Miller has been back practicing, it doesn’t appear he will be able to unseat Wypler.

Several other B1G centers have been named to the list.

  • Doug Kramer, Illinois
  • Tyler Linderbaum, Iowa
  • John Michael Schmitz, Minnesota
  • Cam Jurgens, Nebraska
  • Sam Gerak, Northwestern
