Ohio State’s overtime win over then-No. 2 Iowa on Sunday was one of the most-watched women’s basketball regular season games in recent memory.

NBC announced on Tuesday that the broadcast averaged 1.93 million viewers. Per NBC, that makes it the most-watched regular season women’s college basketball game on any network since 2010.

According to NBC’s release, the broadcast peaked with 3.9 million viewers when the game went into overtime.

Caitlin Clark has become one of the most recognizable college athletes in the country, regardless of sport. Clark had another strong showing in the loss to Ohio State as she scored 45 points and dished out 7 assists.

For Ohio State, it was Cotie McMahon who led the way in the win. McMahon scored 33 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as the Buckeyes out-scored Iowa 42-27 from the 4th quarter onward.

The loss was Iowa’s first Big Ten defeat of the season. Ohio State and Iowa are expected to be top contenders for the Big Ten regular season title this season.

These programs will meet again at Iowa in the regular season finale on March 3.
