What Ohio State's Ryan Day said during Big Ten coaches' teleconference
Ryan Day is the man in charge of the Ohio State football program for the next three weeks after what happened with Urban Meyer.
What Day says goes. And it will go from Week 1 against Oregon State to Week 2 against Rutgers and on to Week 3 against TCU. On Tuesday, during the Big Ten coaches’ teleconference, Day talked about a number of different topics regarding the Buckeyes.
Here are some of his quotes:
Ryan Day, on the Big Ten coaches’ teleconference, on Ohio State’s offense: “Without J.T. (Barrett) and Billy (Price) in there, it’s going to take on a little bit different personality … but for the most part, our offense is our offense.”

Ryan Day says Luke Farrell is still in line to be Ohio State’s starting tight end, but he expects Jeremy Ruckert and Rashod Berry to see playing time.

Q: Is the quarterback situation fluid?
Ryan Day: “Dwayne’s the starter,” but reiterated that Ohio State will look to get Tate Martell into the game.

Ryan Day did not want to speak specifically on Urban Meyer’s meeting with the team Thursday, but said, “The guys were happy to see him. I was happy to see him.”

Ryan Day said Ohio State considered moving Michael Jordan to center all along dating back to spring, and tried to give Jordan, Brady Taylor and Josh Myers all equal reps at the position this preseason.

Ohio State finished the 2017 season with a 12-2 record and winners of the Big Ten Conference Championship over Wisconsin. The Buckeyes went on to defeat USC in the Cotton Bowl 24-7, but for many, that wasn’t enough.
In Columbus, right or wrong, fans think national title or bust. The 2018 season will have to start with Day leading his bunch and any loss in the first three weeks would be potentially catastrophic. The Buckeyes are going to be favored in each of its first three contests.
To start 2018, Ohio State kicks off its season at noon on Saturday against Oregon State at Ohio Stadium. The game will be televised on ABC.
