Nobody needed to see a big spring game performance to understand that Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson will be one of the top wide receiver combinations in college football in 2021. But just for good measure, the tandem is putting on a show in Columbus.
In the first quarter of Saturday’s spring game, both Olave and Wilson made impressive catches to impress the crowd of just over 19,000 at Ohio Stadium. First it was Olave hauling in an incredible grab over Demario McCall from quarterback C.J. Stroud. Then, Wilson made a big-time catch on a long ball from Kyle McCord.
Below are the clips of the two big catches from early in Ohio State’s spring game:
Putting Demario on Olave just isn't fair. Stroud under threw him a little bit, but that's why having a future first-rounder back for another year is a good thing pic.twitter.com/n3O3RdXnQs

Not all of the passes have been super sharp from the QBs early on, but it's nice having great receivers. pic.twitter.com/ItCu21qXW7

Those are two receivers that will cause problems for a lot of defenses this season. In case you didn’t see what they did last season.
Olave and Wilson put up nearly identical numbers during the 2020 season. Olave totaled 729 yards and 7 touchdown grabs on 50 catches. Wilson had 723 yards and scored 6 times on 43 receptions.
It’s only spring, but this wide receiver combination is already in mid-season form.
