'Ownership' of Jaguars rests with the players, says Urban Meyer
It has not been an easy week for former Ohio State head coach and first-year Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer.
On Saturday, the video of Meyer being danced on in a bar became a trending topic. There are reports that Meyer has lost respect from Jacksonville’s locker room and that he has zero credibility among the players. After apologizing to his players and the rest of the personnel at Jacksonville, Meyer said that the ownership of getting the team on track starts with the players.

Meyer says it’s up to the team leaders to get everyone back on the same track: “The ownership of this team is with the players.”

Needless to say, Meyer’s first NFL season is not going as he would like. In addition to the multiple distractions off the field, Jacksonville has not been very good on the field in 2021. The team is 0-4, and Meyer’s off-the-field distraction over the weekend is an issue that Jacksonville is now dealing with.
This is the first major off-the-field incident by Meyer that has been a distraction for Jacksonville. The winless Jaguars must go through the distractions while preparing for a home game this Sunday against the Tennessee Titans (2-2).
Here is a look at the rest of Meyer’s comments from Tuesday evening:
Jaguars coach Urban Meyer on his radio show today: “the conversations have been horrible … have to move forward and regain the trust.”

More Meyer on locker room: “the locker room has been my entire life … how we build it, how we treat it, how we earn their trust.”
Says every locker room is different and is reliant on leaders.
