Pat McAfee picks B1G standout to win 2023 Heisman Trophy
The 2o23 college football season is just now underway as of Saturday, but it’s never too early to start pinning ing potential Heisman Trophy candidates.
Pat McAfee of ESPN recently pinned Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. as one of his favorites to take home the honor.
“He’s going to be the favorite weapon of whichever quarterback they start at Ohio State and I think Ohio State’s going to have a great year,” McAfee said. “So since it’s a new quarterback, I believe a lot of the attention is going to go to the wide receiver superstar. I think Marvin Harrison is going to get a lot of votes.”
Harrison finished out the 2022 season with 77 receptions for 1,263 yards and 14 touchdowns, averaging 16.4 yards per reception. In two years with the Buckeyes, Harrison totals 88 catches for 1,402 yards and 17 scores.
It’s well-known that the Heisman is so often a quarterback award, but there’s no denying the special talent Harrison brings to the table and how he holds his own in the conversation moving forward will be something to keep an eye on.
The Buckeyes open the 2023 season with a road matchup against the Indiana Hoosiers on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT.
