Quinn Ewers received a nice note from a fellow (former) Texas high school quarterback on Monday afternoon.

Following Ewers’ decision to re-classify and skip his senior season of high school in favor of enrolling early at Ohio State, Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes sent him a message:

Mahomes attended Whitehouse High School, which is located about 140 miles southeast of where Ewers currently lives in Southlake, Texas.

Ewers is making the move to college early, at least in-part, because he will be able to sign endorsement deals while at Ohio State. He would not have been able to do that and maintain his eligibility in high school, per Texas law.

Ewers is the No. 1 overall player for the class of 2021 (and previously 2022), according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He is believed to have multiple national brand deals on the table.

Ohio State now has four potential future starting quarterbacks in the same room for this upcoming season. Ewers joins fellow 5-star Kyle McCord, plus Jack Miller and C.J. Stroud.

Ewers is likely to redshirt this fall but will be eligible to play and is expected to participate in fall camp.

Ohio State opens its 2021 season on Sept. 2 against Minnesota.
