Paul Finebaum weighed in on all the Week 8 action during Sunday’s broadcast of SportsCenter. During the show on ESPN, Finebaum explained he still has Ohio State at the top of his rankings, just ahead of Georgia.

What separates those two teams as we make the turn into Week 9 of the season? Right now, it has to do with the quarterback position, per Finebaum.

“It starts at quarterback with CJ Stroud. You alluded to his Heisman hopes a minute ago,” Finebaum explained. “They seem more complete across the board. They have so many weapons offensively, and I think that has really helped them almost dominate every team on the schedule, except Notre Dame early when they struggled in the first half.

“If you look at Ohio State, they have the backend of the schedule waiting for them and that’s Michigan. Same thing for Georgia with Tennessee, Florida this week. But I give the slight edge.”

Finebaum did go on to say he does see Georgia getting better down the stretch with the Bulldogs likely to get some players back available. That is even an interesting note from Finebaum, considering the injuries Ohio State has juggled this season.

“The one thing I’ll say about Georgia, they have some players coming back,” said Finebaum. “They’ll be better at the end when it really matters.”
