Paul Finebaum no fan of Urban Meyer to Notre Dame rumors: 'It would be an atrocious choice'
The college football world has been turned upside down since the conclusion of the regular season ended on Saturday. Big news broke late Monday night, when it was reported that Brian Kelly was leaving Notre Dame to take the job at LSU.
It was a move that nobody saw coming, considering Kelly’s massive success in South Bend and denial that he had interest in any other job. Money talks, though.

Kelly’s departure means that one of the premier jobs in college football is now open. There are plenty of potential moves Notre Dame can make, and one name that has resurfaced is Urban Meyer.
A 3-time national champion, Meyer’s name frequently pops up as a potential candidate for some of the biggest jobs in the sport. But would Notre Dame look to the current Jacksonville Jaguars head coach to fill the vacancy?
SEC Network’s Paul Finebaum doesn’t really believe that will be the case.
“He could’ve had the job when Brian Kelly got it. He turned it down to go to Florida where he won two national championships,” Finebaum said on ESPN’s Get Up. “I think he’s burned that bridge, and quite frankly, I think it would be an atrocious choice. He has burned out everywhere he’s ever been. He has not shown us anything in Jacksonville and I think Jack Swarbrick, the athletic director, is too smart to make a mistake like hiring Urban Meyer.”
We’re only a few days removed from the end of the regular season and already the coaching carousel is moving at high speed. Things are only going to get more interesting as the week progresses.
