Paul Finebaum unloaded on Ohio State for the strength of schedule it’s faced thus far in 2024.

“What we’ve seen from Ohio State this year is really beyond words, the fact that they took the road less traveled,” Finebaum said on his weekly appearance on “The Matt Barrie Show”. “They played the worst non-conference schedule I have seen.”

Finebaum brought up Georgia needing to add Ball State to its 2023 schedule after a planned home-and-home with Oklahoma was scrapped due to the Sooners’ pending move to the SEC.

“Can someone explain what Ohio State’s reason and rationale has been this year?” Finebaum asked rhetorically.

“Akron, Western Michigan, Marshall. That’s not a gauntlet,” Barrie added.

“That is laughable. What Ohio State has done is truly a travesty,” Finebaum replied. “And I know they won’t be held accountable because they’ll run the table with either no losses or one loss, but it’s still embarassing. It’s a complete and total ripoff of the fanbase.”

Indeed, the Buckeyes have had little trouble over the first 3 games of their season. They did come out the blocks a little slow against Akron in Week 1 before winning 52-6, while Week 2 against Western Michigan was much more straightforward as they turned a 35-0 halftime lead into a 56-0 victory. On Saturday, the Buckeyes led Marshall 28-14 at halftime before pitching a shutout in the 2nd half en route to a 42-14 win.

We’ll see how Ohio State handles games at Michigan State — its 2024 B1G opener — and at home against Iowa before a possible Top 10 matchup at Oregon on Oct. 12.
