We’re only through five weeks of the college football season, but College Football Playoff predictions are flying in. Paul Finebaum was the latest to weigh in.
On Wednesday, the college football analyst and radio host made an appearance on Get Up!, discussing the current outlook of the playoff situation. He provided his opinion on what the bracket would look like if the season ended now.
It’s not much of a surprise that the SEC Network host has two SEC teams in his top four spots. He did include one B1G squad, though.
Finebaum’s CFB Playoff after Week 5 looks like this:
- Alabama
- Ohio State
- Georgia
- Notre Dame
That top four aligns with most other college football experts across the country. There are still arguments for Clemson and Oklahoma over Notre Dame, but Finebaum believes the Irish have the two best wins on the season, defeating Michigan and Stanford.
Ohio State also has two top 25 wins, knocking off TCU in Week 3 and Penn State last Saturday.
The major takeaway from Finebaum’s prediction? He’s leaving out three Power Five conferences: ACC, Pac-12 and Big XII. Alabama and Georgia give the SEC two bids and Notre Dame is an independent program.
Do you agree with Finebaum’s CFB Playoff picture?
