Paul Finebaum has made some changes to his College Football Playoff bracket.
Wednesday, the SEC Network host made an appearance on ESPN’s Get Up! to talk all things college football. Included in that was presenting his top four teams following the seventh week of the season. And after an exciting weekend, Finebaum has made some adjustments.
Alabama and Ohio State are still slotted in the top two spots, but the No. 3 and No. 4 positions have seen a change. Here’s Finebaum’s rankings:
- Alabama
- Ohio State
- Notre Dame
- LSU
The Crimson Tide blew out Missouri and Ohio State survived a scare from Minnesota. Notre Dame also had a close call with Pitt while LSU obliterated then-No. 2 Georgia.
Finebaum still has the Buckeyes in that No. 2 spot, but he admits he’s been a bit more hesitant.
“I still like Ohio State. They’re making me queasy. I get queasy anyway,” Finebaum said. “Bosa was never going to be a factor. He’s been gone since TCU. Haskins is still a very solid quarterback. Their defensive play has been good, but they just look lethargic. They come from behind to beat Penn State and then they take a few weeks off.”
And what about the climb for LSU? Finebaum says he’s impressed with the number of significant wins the Tigers have racked up.
“I like LSU. They have three top-10 wins. They have looked really good,” he said. “Joe Burrow has been serviceable, not great, but he’s come through when it matters winning at Auburn, winning against Georgia. They let the Florida game get away. They have to be careful, though. Alabama is in two weeks. Mississippi State on Saturday could be a tough game for them.”
There’s still half a college football season to go. Considering how much change we saw in Week 7, we’re likely to see just one more of these whacky weekends.
But for now, it’s tough to argue with Finebaum’s rankings.
