Penn State’s Gross-Matos, Ohio State’s Young named finalists for Ted Hendricks Award

Two of the best defensive linemen in the B1G find their names on the finalist list for one of the top individual awards at their position.

This week, Ohio State’s Chase Young and Penn State’s Yetur Gross-Matos were named finalists for the Ted Hendricks Award, presented to the best defensive end in college football.

Young was recently named the B1G Defensive Player of the Year and Defensive Lineman of the Year. Gross-Matos, along with Young, was a first-team All-B1G selection this season.

Here are the five finalists:

  • Chase Young, Ohio State
  • Yetur Gross-Matos, Penn State
  • James Lynch, Baylor
  • Curtis Weaver, Boise State
  • Bradlee Anae, Utah

The Ted Hendricks Award has been presented to the top defensive end in college football every year since 2002.

The winner will be named on Dec. 11, 2019.
