Ohio State came into National Signing Day knowing that its top recruits were already locked down.

But the Buckeyes managed a key signing, anyway.

JUCO All-American Malcolm Pridgeon announced on Wednesday that he picked the Buckeyes over Baylor. Pridgeon, a four-star offensive tackle, is the fourth-rated JUCO prospect in the country.

The Nassau Community College (NY) product had been recruited by the Buckeyes for nearly a year but he hadn’t made any official declarations about his college future until Wednesday. The 6-8, 305-pound tackle had taken official visits Baylor, Florida and West Virginia, but he visited Columbus last weekend.

Ultimately, the Buckeyes got the final word in.

Pridgeon will be eligible immediately and will have two years of eligibility left. With Ohio State returning two starters on the offensive line, he could be a candidate to play right away in 2016.

With the addition of Pridgeon, the Buckeyes’ 2016 class moved up to No. 1 in the 247sports rankings. That, obviously, can change throughout National Signing Day.
