Ohio State starting quarterback CJ Stroud won’t be eligible for the NFL Draft until next year, but he’s going to be getting some reps in during the program’s pro day on Wednesday.
According to ESPN NFL Draft analyst Jordan Reid, Stroud will be the quarterback throwing during drills designed for running backs, wide receivers and tight ends. That includes star receivers Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave, as well as tight end Jeremy Ruckert.
Stroud was a Heisman Trophy finalist following an impressive 2021 campaign, leading the Buckeyes to an 11-2 record. It was his first year as a starter, replacing Justin Fields.
At Ohio State’s pro day tomorrow, C.J. Stroud will be the QB throwing to the RBs, WRs, and TEs – most notably Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave, and Jeremy Ruckert.
Stroud is projected to be one of the top players overall in 2023.

Stroud threw for 4,435 yards and 44 touchdowns while completing nearly 72% of his passes. A lot of those completions wound up in the hands of Wilson, Olave and Ruckert throughout the course of the year.
Wilson ended the year with 1,058 yards and 12 touchdowns while Olave totaled 936 yards and 13 touchdowns. Ruckert had 309 yards and 3 touchdowns at the tight end position.
All three are expected to be taken in the 2022 NFL Draft and Olave and Wilson have been pegged as first-round selections in several mock scenarios. We’ll see if they improve their stock any on Wednesday.
