Rece Davis is usually in the anchor chair when he hosts ESPN College GameDay on Saturday mornings, and it’s the analysts on either side of him who give their opinions on all things college football.

But when Davis speaks on the College GameDay podcast, it all changes for him and he’s able to let loose with some of his own opinions. That’s what happened on Tuesday, just 6 days before Notre Dame faces Ohio State in the national title game in Atlanta. Davis was candid about what he thought might happen when the favored Buckeyes face the Fighting Irish, with kickoff scheduled for just after 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.

The latest odds from bet365 have Ohio State as an 8-point favorite when kickoff rolls around. Fans can get in on the latest odds with our Ohio betting apps ahead of Monday night.

“With the weapons (Ohio State has) and the quickness with which they can strike … I think it goes one of two ways. It either goes 30-13-ish (Ohio State) or (Notre Dame defensive coordinator) Al Golden comes up with enough third-down stops, he fools Will Howard enough, Notre Dame runs it enough to keep it close, and then it comes down to a kick (in) a low-scoring game. Otherwise, I think it’s going to be Ohio State,” said Davis.

Having said that, Davis said he also has all the respect in the world for what Marcus Freeman and Notre Dame have done this season in getting within 60 minutes of a national championship. Davis just kept coming back to all those offensive weapons that Ohio State has.
