Reggie Bush and Matt Leinart will be sharing a studio set with Urban Meyer this year on FOX, serving as college football analysts and experts for the network’s coverage. The two former USC stars plan to get the retired head coach thinking about a return to the sideline.

Last week, Bush told the LA Times that he and Leinart — former Trojans teammates — plan to recruit Meyer to be the next head coach at USC, should Clay Helton struggle this season.

“We’ll definitely be recruiting him,” Bush told the LA Times. “What makes you think we won’t be recruiters? Nothing is off the table.”

Meyer retired at the end of the 2018 season, following a turbulent year filled with allegations of mishandling former assistant coach Zach Smith’s domestic abuse accusations, health concerns and inconsistent play. Though he said multiple times he believes he won’t coach again, many speculate he would return to the right situation.

USC has always been an appealing job with a history of winning titles and producing NFL talent. The program hasn’t found much success under Helton, putting the head coach on the hot seat.

If the Trojans don’t produce on the field this year, the program could very well be looking for a new head coach. Bush and Leinart want to help their former program out in the best way possible.

Meyer would certainly be an upgrade in Los Angeles.
