The Dayton, Ohio native was a sixth-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, taken with the 180th pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars. In his first season in the league, Bennett played in all 13 games, registering 10 tackles and 0.5 sacks.
Since that first year, Bennett has battled a slew of injury-related issues. He was placed on the injured reserved list in September 2016 and again in September 2017 for a pectoral injury. Last September, he was released by the Jaguars.
Atlanta opens the preseason on Aug. 1 against the Denver Broncos.
