Denzel Ward is about to become the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history.

NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport reported Monday that Ward and the Cleveland Browns have agreed to a 5-year contract deal that will pay him $100.5 million. With $71.25 million guaranteed, the former Buckeye is set to be the highest-paid player at his position in the history of the league.

Ward has been outstanding through his first four seasons with the Browns. He’s been responsible for 186 total tackles, 50 pass break-ups and 10 interceptions in his career.

Ward is a two-time Pro Bowl selection, receiving honors in 2018 and 2021. He was also named to the All-Rookie Team by the PFWA after posting 53 stops, 11 pass break-ups, 3 interceptions and 2 fumble recoveries in Cleveland.

Last season, Ward collected 43 tackles, 10 pass break-ups and 3 interceptions with a pick-six.

Ward was selected in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft with the No. 4 overall selection. In 2017, he was a consensus All-American at Ohio State and an All-B1G pick after totaling 37 tackles, 15 pass break-ups and a pair of interceptions.
