Ohio lawmakers are petitioning the NCAA to reinstate Ohio State’s wins from the 2010 season, all of which were vacated because of “Tattoogate.” The Columbus Dispatch reported the news on Wednesday morning.

According to The Dispatch, the resolution is being sponsored by two-time Ohio State graduate and state Rep. Brian Stewart.

The Buckeyes concluded that season with a 12-1 record, winning a B1G title and defeating Arkansas in the Sugar Bowl. Stewart’s argument is that the punishment of vacating wins was an unfair consequence to the players, coaches and fans who had nothing to do with “Tattoogate.”

“This resolution does not say anything about the sanctions,” Stewart said. “This resolution says enough is enough. The NCAA’s view of what is permissible for players has changed drastically in the last twelve years.”

Stewart added that he thinks because Penn State’s vacated victories were restored, Ohio State’s should as well. Last year, when name, image and likeness policies were approved, members of the 2010 Buckeyes team asked the NCAA to reinstate the wins, but the organization said it would not re-evaluate those decisions.
