Ohio State cornerback Lejond Cavazos has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal. ESPN’s Pete Thamel was the first to report the news on Monday.

Cavazos was with the Buckeyes for two seasons and was a 4-star member of the 2020 recruiting class. He played in 11 games last season and was credited with 8 tackles and 2 passes defended. The cornerback made his debut in 2020 in the B1G Championship Game against Northwestern.

It was the only game Cavazos played in as a true freshman at Ohio State.

Entering the transfer portal, Cavazos can now look for opportunities outside of Columbus to continue his college football career. He will have three years of eligibility remaining and can suit up immediately.

As a high school recruit, Cavazos was ranked as the No. 352 overall prospect in the 2020 class. He received offers from several major programs while at IMG Academy, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, Texas A&M, USC and others.

Ohio State’s defensive staff underwent major changes during the offseason. Ryan Day brought in Jim Knowles as defensive coordinator, Perry Eliano as safeties coach and Tim Walton as secondary coach.
