Michigan linebackers coach Al Washington is reportedly leaving Ann Arbor to join Ryan Day’s staff at Ohio State. He will become the second Michigan assistant to leave for Columbus in the last two days.

According to 247Sports, Washington is set to become the linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator at Ohio State. On Monday, Michigan defensive line coach Greg Mattison was also left Ann Arbor for Columbus, becoming the co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach with the Buckeyes.

Day also added San Francisco 49ers defensive backs coach Jeff Hafley to his staff as a co-defensive coordinator.

Washington is a native of Columbus and played college football at Boston College in the mid-2000s. He was on Jim Harbaugh’s staff as the linebackers coach for one season.

He also had stops at North Carolina State, Boston College and Cincinnati.
