Greg Schiano might be on the move after all.

The Ohio State defensive coordinator, who had an eventful offseason to say the least, is set to interview for the same position with the New England Patriots.

According to NBC Sports Boston, the interview would take place after the Patriots play in Super Bowl LII:

The Patriots have a vacancy at the position because defensive coordinator Matt Patricia is set to become the next coach of the Detroit Lions after the Super Bowl.

Schiano has been in Columbus the last two seasons as the defensive coordinator. The Buckeyes might’ve known a potential move was coming because they hired Washington State defensive coordinator Alex Grinch to share the job with Schiano.

Of course, that was after Schiano reportedly was set to become Tennessee’s next head coach, but public protests stemming from his hearsay and unconfirmed involvement in the Jerry Sandusky child abuse scandal prevented the hire from happening.

Schiano hasn’t been in the NFL since he was fired by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2013. He does, however, have a relationship with Patriots coach Bill Belichick stemming from his days as Rutgers’ head coach, where Schiano developed several New England draft picks.

Surely Schiano is one of a long list of candidates that the Patriots will interview to fill the opening.
