Tennessee went with Schiano, after talks with Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen fell through after he wanted to wait out to see if he can land the Florida job.

Schiano is in his second season at Ohio State after coming over to the Buckeyes following a failed tenure as head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Before Tampa Bay, Schiano was 68-67 at Rutgers.

Tennessee fired Butch Jones two weeks ago after an embarrassing loss to Missouri, and finished 4-8 this season.
