R.J. Young broke down the recent Ohio State decision to name Kyle McCord as the starter in Week 1.  Young always saw it as McCord’s job to lose.

For Young, it was never about how good McCord was, it was how good Devin Brown was. Brown will also be taking snaps in the game, according to Ryan Day.

“I think the thing to take from this is not Kyle McCord isn’t that good, but that Devin Brown is that good. This was always Kyle McCord’s job to lose from where I’m sitting. Not just because he’s had the longest relationship with Marvin Harrison Jr., who’s the best non-quarterback in the sport right now. But that he’s also a five-star quarterback who got the start against Akron last year and purported himself well. We are still on a streak where if you start a game at Ohio State as a quarterback for Ryan Day, you are a first-round selection in the NFL Draft.”

McCord appeared in seven games last season for the Buckeyes. Fans will see if that one start will be enough for McCord to have success in the B1G at quarterback.

Will McCord be the next Ohio State QB to have success under Day?
