The nation’s top tight end recruit is coming to the B1G. More specifically, he’s coming to Columbus.

On Monday, No. 1 tight end recruit Jeremy Ruckert announced that he picked Ohio State over Michigan, Notre Dame and Wisconsin.

No B1G team has ever signed the top-ranked tight end recruit in the country. Adam Breneman (2013, Penn State) and Anthony Moeaki (2005, Iowa) were the only top-two tight ends to commit to B1G schools in the recruiting rankings era.

The 6-5, 238-pound Lindenhurst, NY native is rated the No. 1 player in New York and the No. 52 player overall in the 2018 class.

Others are even higher on Ruckert. In the 247sports rankings, Ruckert added a fifth star and is ranked the No. 11 player overall in the 2018 class.

The U.S. Army All-American gave the Buckeyes their 11th commitment from a recruit ranked inside the top 100 of the 247sports composite. Along with four-star guard Matthew Jones, the Buckeyes now have verbal pledges from the top two recruits in New York.

Ohio State now has 15 recruits committed to its 2018 class, which is ranked No. 1 in the B1G and now No. 1 overall.
