Rueben Owens II has decided to decommit from Louisville following reports Jeff Brohm is leaving Purdue to take the head coaching job with the Cardinals. Owens is a 5-star running back in the class of 2023.

It is unknown if Owens is de-committing due to the arrival of Brohm as head coach, but he has stated that he is opening his recruitment journey once again.

Owens is a 5-star running back from El Campo, Texas. He is the 2nd best running back and the 5th best high school prospect from the state of Texas, according to the 247Sports Composite.
He has 43 total offers to play at the collegiate level with visits to Louisville and TCU. According to reports, Owens is expected to make a final decision between Ohio State, Georgia and Texas A&M for his commitment.
Owens was the top-rated prospect in the 2023 recruiting class for Louisville before his de-commitment.
Brohm leaves Purdue after six seasons where he accumulated an overall record of 36-34 and a B1G record of 26-25.
