Ryan Day had Jaxon Smith-Njigba on a snap count as a precaution against Iowa. Smith-Njigba has been dealing with a hamstring injury for the majority of the season.
Day revealed that Smith-Njigba wanted to keep playing despite getting close to his snap limit. The team wanted to make sure that his number was somewhere around 20 for the game.
“He’s always been trying to get back out there,” said Day. “We wanted to make sure that number was kept around 20.”
