Ohio State rolled to its first win of the season, taking down No. 5 Notre Dame, 21-10. The Buckeyes managed a win without the help of WR Julian Fleming but struggled offensively during the game.
On Tuesday, head coach Ryan Day briefly addressed Fleming’s injury during his weekly press conference. According to Day, it “tore his heart out” for Fleming to miss the game against the Irish, but Day is still hoping for a quick return.
Day on Julian Fleming: "He was close. It tore his heart out not to be in this game. Tweaked something leading into the game. Hope to have him back for Saturday's game."

Fleming had been listed as a game-time decision due to his injury. The wide receiver suffered a shoulder injury during fall training camp but was thought to be in good shape for the game on Saturday.
The details surrounding Fleming’s current injury are unknown, with Day saying only “We couldn’t quite get him going.” Fleming was the top receiver and 14th best player in the 2020 recruiting class and was anticipated to make a key difference in the Buckeye’s offense.
Hopefully, Fleming can make his 2022 season debut in Week 2 as Ohio State takes on Arkansas State.
