Ryan Day and his Ohio State program are dealing with some growing injury concerns throughout the spring practices.

On Friday, the injured list saw the addition of linebacker Steele Chambers and wide receiver Xavier Johnson. Per Dan Hope with Eleven Warriors, Chambers was on crutches while Johnson was out of uniform and seen in a walking boot during Friday’s practice.

Day confirmed after practice that both players will be out for the rest of spring practices and announced a procedure for Chambers:

“He’ll be back. He’ll have a procedure done, but he’ll be back for preseason and should have a pretty good summer,” said Day in reference to Chambers. “Xavier is probably a little bit longer, but still we’ll have him for the summer. It’s not going to be something that’s going to affect him in the preseason.”

Both players had key roles with the team in 2022 and are looking for more of the same in 2023. Chambers finished second on the team with 77 total tackles while Johnson did a bit of everything on offense with 297 scrimmage yards and 3 touchdowns.

Hopefully both players recover quickly and fully and are able to contribute as expected in the fall.
