Ryan Day blasted by fans on social media for decision at end of 1st half
Ryan Day isn’t feeling particularly aggressive as his Ohio State offense struggles against Penn State.
Penn State punted to Ohio State to give the Buckeyes the ball back with 42 seconds left at their own 17-yard line. OSU had all 3 timeouts remaining.
Instead of trying for a quick score, Day stunned many fans with his decision to kneel out the final seconds of the 1st half. Here’s a small sample of the social media reaction:
Taking a knee with 3 TOs and the best WR in the country with plenty of time left is soft

Taking a knee with all that time?! This is Ryan Day. But also this is what a backup QB gets you.

There were some who came to Day’s defense:
Everyone giving Ryan Day crap about taking the knee there but I trust Ohio State’s defense WAY more than I trust Kyle McCord.
They’re winning at halftime and they get the ball to start the second half. How much more can you people complain about?

I’m not mad at Day for taking a knee
I actually hoped he’d do it as I had little trust in our QB to not do something stupid before the half

After starting 5-of-5, Ohio State QB Kyle McCord finished the half 11-of-21 passing. Even with elite playmakers, Day didn’t trust his quarterback to get the Buckeyes in position to score more points.
OSU leads 10-6 at the half. The game is airing on FOX.
