Ryan Day, Buckeyes involved in golf cart crash on way to press conference
Ryan Day was riding high on Monday night after securing his first national championship and the first for Ohio State since 2014.
Well, riding high in one way but not so much in others.
Mentally speaking, sure, Day and his Buckeyes felt like kings of the world, and they certainly are when it comes to college football. Ohio State won the title in a fashion that no one else has done before, conquering the initial 12-team College Football Playoff and beating 5 AP Top-5 teams in the process.
But after the game, Ryan Day was not riding high. In the tunnel of Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Day was joined by Will Howard and Cody Simon with a golf cart ride designed to take them to the postgame press conference.
Unfortunately, the golf cart did not take them to the press conference. Where it did take them is directly into the wall in a surprising crash. Fortunately, it didn’t appear that anyone was harmed, but the Buckeyes eventually walked their way to the press conference instead.

The crew was able to joke about it afterward with Howard asking his head coach if he was alright. Day, still relishing in the title, simply said he’ll send any medical bills to the Playoff.
Asked about the post-game golf cart incident:
Will Howard: “[it] was pretty funny. Coach Day, I hope you’re all right. He got jolted a little bit.
Ryan Day: “I’ll send my medical bills to the CFP.” <laughter> https://t.co/gOa6x4IZnI

Even if Day wasn’t expecting one final bump in the road, it looks like it turned out okay for the national champion.
