There aren’t enough good things to be said about Justin Fields. The Ohio State quarterback continues to prove why he’s such a special player on a weekly basis.

Head coach Ryan Day and defensive end Chase Young were extremely complimentary of the first-year starting quarterback following the Buckeyes 52-3 beatdown of Northwestern on Friday night. You can tell both are really pleased with the way the sophomore has handled the pressure in Columbus.

“I thought he took a step in that direction for sure,” Day said of Fields after the game. “I thought he had great poise, he handled himself well in the pocket, he threw some away when he had to, he scrambled on some early. If he can keep building on this, he’s got a chance to be special.”

Young also had some serious praise for his teammate after the game.

“I think he’s the best quarterback in the nation,” Young told Bruce Feldman after the game.

Fields finished the evening completing 18-of-23 pass attempts for 194 yards and four touchdowns in the win. He’s now thrown for 1,492 yards and 22 touchdowns on the season with just one interception, completing passes with an accuracy rate over 70 percent.

Fields has also rushed for 291 yards and eight touchdowns on the year.

In the latest odds from Vegas, Fields has been listed as one of five players with the best odds to win the Heisman Trophy, along with Tua Tagovailoa (Alabama), Joe Burrow (LSU), Jalen Hurts (Oklahoma) and Jonathan Taylor (Wisconsin). If the Buckeyes continue to trounce opponents, his stock will only rise.

Right now, he’s got full faith from his coaches and his teammates. He’s playing at a really impressive level and is a huge reason why Ohio State sits at 7-0 right now.
