Ryan Day comments on Marvin Harrison Jr. Heisman bid: 'He is the most outstanding player in the country'
Ryan Day and several other Ohio State team members have said it all season long: Marvin Harrison Jr. needs to be in the race for the Heisman Trophy.
It’s a winning argument, too. Harrison is up to 59 receptions for 1,063 yards and 12 touchdowns this season. That makes back-to-back seasons with over 1,000 receiving yards and he still has at least 3 games to play, potentially more.
Day was asked Tuesday about Harrison’s candidacy for Heisman alongside top names such as Jayden Daniels and Bo Nix.
Here’s what he had to say about the superstar wide receiver:
Ryan Day on Marvin Harrison Jr.’s Heisman candidacy:
“The Heisman Trophy goes to the most outstanding player in the country. … I get to see him every day. I think he is the most outstanding player in the country.”

The Heisman is intended to go to the best player in the country regardless of position. But everyone knows a QB wins the award 90% of the time. The last receiver to win the award was DeVonta Smith in 2020, and before that, you have to go back to Desmond Howard in 1991.
We’ll see if Harrison can continue to dazzle heading into the final 2 weeks of the regular season.
