Ryan Day comments on Ohio State's CFP case after loss to Michigan
Ryan Day and Ohio State could not get the Michigan-sized monkey off their backs in The Game. Now, for a second straight season, the Buckeyes must wait and see if the College Football Playoff committee still views Ohio State as one of the four best teams in the country.
After The Game, Day was asked about whether or not he views Ohio State as a Playoff-worthy team. The head coach admitted he had not yet thought about that, but he does believe Ohio State is solid in all three phases.
“Oof, I haven’t even thought that far, Pat. You know just playing in this game, everything just so focused on this game. I’d have to kind of process that,” said Day. “I think we have a very good team, we came up short today and it’s devastating. But I believe in our players, I think we have a veteran team. I think we have a team that is solid in all three phases.”
Overall, Day said he needs to “see what else is out there” though he maintains a belief that the Buckeyes can play with any team in the country.
“I’d have to see what else is out there. I’ve been so focused on this game. I appreciate the question, I just don’t have a great answer for you right now,” Day explained. “But I do believe this team can play with anybody in the country.”
