Ryan Day’s Ohio State Buckeyes are gearing up for a showdown at Autzen Stadium with the No. 3 Oregon Ducks.

It will be the Buckeyes’ toughest test of the season, so all hands need to be on deck. Fortunately, Day revealed that talented wide receiver Carell Tate will return to the lineup for this game.

Tate missed Week 6 against Iowa due to an unspecified injury, but the WR won’t be facing an extended absence.

Day was asked what Tate brings to the offense.

“Certainly very, very talented … Very intelligent … It’s great to have him back,” said the coach.

Tate is 3rd on the team in receptions and receiving yards in 2024. The WR has 14 catches for 219 yards with 1 TD. Much of the offense has been centered around star WRs Emeka Egbuka and Jeremiah Smith, but Tate provides a solid third option.

In high school, Tate was a star prospect at IMG Academy. The WR was rated as the N0. 3 WR and No. 22 overall prospect in the 2023 class. Tate chose Ohio State over Georgia, Notre Dame, Tennessee, and others.

As a freshman in 2023, Tate played in 13 games and caught 18 passes for 264 yards and 1 TD. Tate is well ahead of that pace in 2024 and could take over after Egbuka inevitably heads to the NFL.

The Ducks and Buckeyes will kick off from Eugene on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
