Ryan Day explains why Ohio State scored late TD in blowout of Indiana
Ryan Day and Ohio State improved to 10-1 with a 38-15 win over Indiana on Saturday.
The Buckeyes, though, raised some eyebrows with 35 seconds remaining in the 4th quarter, extending an already sizable lead with another touchdown to help set the game’s final margin — after TreVeyon Henderson took a 39-yard carry but went down at the 1-yard line with less than 2 minutes remaining.
Day was asked by FOX’s Jenny Taft about the decision to score with the game already decided.
“We said leave no doubt,” Day said. “These guys want to finish the game the right way. TreVeyon did the right thing going down at the one-yard line. We ate up the clock, we didn’t want to put the defense back out there. You just never know in games like this, it’s a top-5 matchup. We just wanted to finish things the right way and make sure everybody knows, this is the Ohio State Buckeyes.”
Ohio State improved to 10-1 with the win, extending their win streak against the Hoosiers to 29 games with the regular season finale against Michigan looming. A win puts the Buckeyes in the Big Ten Championship Game for the first time since 2020.
Indiana, meanwhile, falls to 10-1, ending the regular season against Purdue.
