Ryan Day focused on beating Michigan, not outside noise surrounding The Game
Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes face their most important test of the season to date this Saturday in Ann Arbor.
On Tuesday, Day insisted that the Buckeyes are focused on Michigan and beating Michigan, not necessarily the outside storylines related to snapping Michigan’s streak, the College Football Playoff implications and so on.
In other words, Ohio State is keeping the main thing the main thing.
Ryan Day said Ohio State remains focused on beating Michigan on Saturday — not on outside distractions that surround The Game: “The only thing that matters is the game, is this team, is preparing. The rest of it doesn’t matter.”

Day also noted that given all the outside factors the Buckeyes have to learn to handle emotion. He wants his team playing with emotion, but that’s different than emotions affecting how the Buckeyes approach Week 13.
To open the press conference, Ryan Day was asked how Ohio State will handle emotions in The Game in 2023, given all that factors into it.
“You have to play with emotion. You can’t let emotion play with you,” Day said.
