The transfer portal has absolutely transformed college football. Depending on one’s viewpoint, that transformation is either positive or negative.

Ohio State coach Ryan Day doesn’t appear to be the biggest proponent of the new system which now freely allows athletes to transfer without having to sit out a year. Day cites factors such as roster construction and chemistry for why he isn’t in favor of the transfer portal.

As a whole, the newfound player empowerment movement with the transfer portal and the new NIL rules continues to stir plenty of debate in the college football world.

Here’s a sampling of what Day had to say on the subject during his press conference on Day 1 of the Early Signing Period:

No. 7 Ohio State will face No. 11 Utah in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1 (5 p.m. EST/ESPN).
