Ryan Day may have taken over for a legendary head coach, but the first-year leader at Ohio State is entering some pretty historic territory himself.
Ohio State posted a 76-5 victory over Miami (OH) on Saturday to improve to 4-0 on the season. That win marked the seventh-straight game in which Ryan Day’s teams have scored 40 points or more in a game. Coincidentally, Day has been the head coach for seven games, dating back to 2018 when he stepped in during Urban Meyer’s suspension.
According to Big Ten Network, Day has started his career with the second-most 40-plus point performances. The only head coach to have more was Mark Helfrich, whose Oregon teams scored at least 40 points in its first eight games.
Day will have an opportunity to match that total next weekend when Ohio State battles Nebraska.

Not a bad start to a head coaching career for Day. The Buckeyes have posted four blowout wins, defeated Florida Atlantic, (45-21), Cincinnati (42-0), Indiana (51-10) and Miami (76-5).
Things will get tougher now, as the Buckeyes enter B1G play.
