Ryan Day, Mickey Marotti pull off April Fool’s Day joke during Ohio State virtual meeting

Just because spring practice is canceled and players and coaches are having to meet virtually instead of on-campus doesn’t mean that they can’t have a little fun on April Fool’s Day. Ohio State’s coaching staff took full advantage.

On April 1, head coach Ryan Day and strength coach Mickey Marotti decided to pull a prank on some of the Buckeye players while holding a virtual meeting. The joke? That Marotti was leaving Ohio State football…to join a rock band.

Marotti insisted that being a drummer was his passion, and that he would be chasing this opportunity. He even showed off the drum-set in his home in an attempt to sell the prank.

It wasn’t clear how successful the joke was, but there were probably a few concerns among the players during the meeting. Below is the clip of the prank that Day shared on social media:
