Prior to the action officially starting, first-year head coach Ryan Day spoke with the media on Tuesday. Day talked about a number of different topics and one was about OL Branden Bowen. Day announced his starting offensive tackles and Bowen was one of them:
Day said Branden Bowen will start at right tackle. Thayer Munford will be at left tackle.

Not only is Bowen the starting right tackle, but Day talked more in-depth about the player who has had to overcome a lot.
Day on Branden Bowen: "His attitude is as good as I've been around. He's been through a lot. To see the way he's smiling (is great). He's got a lot of energy… I just love his approach right now."

Bowen didn’t play in 2018 due to major injuries:
Bowen was the starter at right guard in 2017 before he broke the fibia and tibia in left leg vs. Maryland. It's been a long climb back. He didn't play last year.

The story behind Bowen and what he has had to overcome to get to where he is at now is a great one. It shows his heart, which Day has clearly recognized.
